Fashionista Fun
Written By Savvy Auntie Staff Writers
Ok, it sounds a little materialistic. And maybe it is. But there’s nothing more fun for a niece than going clothing shopping with Auntie – unless Auntie is shopping for her nephew! A day of shopping can be educational and fun – if your niece is a little fashionista.
If your niece likes fashion, take her to a premier mall, specialty retailers or areas known for luxury clothing, like Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive. Teach her about the designers, where they are from, what makes them special, and how the clothing is made. She’ll learn to appreciate some of the finer things. In fact, take your niece to lunch at Saks or Barney’s. Or, take her to a fancy hotel for tea and cucumber sandwiches when you’re done.
Before your shopping trip, you may want to browse through the latest Vogue or W magazines together to give her a preview of what to look out for. Dressing up for the occasion is fun too.
Of course, your niece may not be ready for Dolce and Gabbana or Chanel. And Zak Posen may be a few years away, but how about a stop at a teen couture boutique, like Juicy Couture.
