Play Store
Written By Savvy Auntie Staff Writers
This is a great activity for kids who have a toy cash register and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Decide with the children what kind of store they want to have. Is it a grocery store (you can use play food)? A bakery (make cookies out of Play-Doh)? A toy store (use toys!)? etc. Use the play money that comes from a Monopoly set, or from the cash register if it came with it. Let the kids be the shop keepers and ask them how much each item costs. Then, switch roles and let them count off their money to pay for things. This is a great way to teach kids math and have fun while you're doing it. Of course, it’s hard to teach math with a plastic credit card, so try to stick with play money.
