Hatching Chicks

What You'll Need:
Eggshells, reasonably intact after breaking
Small and medium yellow puff balls
Small googly eyes
Construction paper
Glue gun (preferred) or Elmer's glue
What To Do:
1. Using warm water and antibacterial soap, wash out each piece of eggshell and dry thoroughly with paper towels. If you are concerned about cross-contamination, use plastic eggshells purchased from the store.
2. Cut out a small circle of construction paper to use as the "feet" that will hold the eggshell erect. Place a small dot of glue on the circle, then press the bottom of the eggshell against it, holding until it is mostly dried.
3. Place a small dot of glue on the medium-sized puffball and place it inside the eggshell, pressing firmly but carefully.
4. On the small puffball, create your chick's face. Use construction paper to cut out a beak, feathers and any other features you desire. You may also wish to give your chick wings. Glue on these elements, along with some googly eyes, and attach the head to the body with a dot of glue.
5. If desired, attach a small additional piece of eggshell to the head as a "hat."
6. Allow your chick to dry, then put on display!
