Decorating the Thanksgiving table is one of the most important parts of
Turkey Day. To get a better idea of creative ways to get nieces and
nephews involved in decorating fun, Savvy Auntie sat down with celebrity
planner and Safeway Entertaining Expert Debi Lilly to get a few tips.
While
Mom and Dad are busy in the kitchen, Aunties and the little ones can
craft pumpkin place cards that can double as festive Thanksgiving Day
table decor. You’ll need Jack-o-Littles (orange baby pumpkins), markers, a
pencil, and construction paper for this easy and fun holiday craft.
Cut
paper into long, narrow strips and write guests’ names in the center of
each strip. With a pencil, roll each end of the strip of paper one at a
time tightly around it, creating a "scroll.” Place mini pumpkins at each place setting, and hang the scroll off of the stems, for a custom, crafty place card.
Thanksgiving also
means family time. What better time of year to get the entire family
involved in a fun, festive holiday trivia game? Work with your little nephews and nieces to come up with a few
Thanksgiving related trivia questions, print them out and place them at
each setting at the dinner table.
Between courses, work together
to answer the trivia questions, learn the history of the holiday, and
have fun sharing a new Thanksgiving tradition.
