Knit for New Baby
Written By Savvy Auntie Staff Writers
If your niece is a knitter, the two of you can work on a project together that will literally warm the hearts of newborns and their mommies.
Some hospitals have programs where people can donate knit hats for newborn babies. Hospitals may accept knit hats for older sick kids too. Be sure to check with your local hospital to see what kind of programs they offer.
Ask you niece what kind of hat she'd like to knit and help her choose the yarn. Use clean knitting needles and soft yarns. Obviously, scratchy or 'hairy' wool is not a good idea. Go with your niece to present the hat to the hospital. She may even want to make a card wishing the baby or child well.
Knitting for those in need is not only a wonderful craft project, it's a good deed! Tell us about your niece's knitting experience.
