A surprise on my cruise!

A couple of weeks ago, my mom,her boyfriend & I went on a cruise.My brother my s.i.l & my 5 year old niece went on too. ( I was wishing my 12 year old niece could go on too, but she had school.) So while I was greeting my brother & his family I look up and who was there but MY 12 YEAR OLD NIECE!!!! WHAT A SURPRISE!!! What was even better was that she & I were going to share a cabin with each other! (The day of the cruise was coincidentally my birthday) So my mother took my room key from me & I was wondering why. My mom's bf said he'd treat me to Starbucks ' on the ship (Yum Yum!) After about 15 minutes his cellphone rang & we went up to my cabin where "A" were staying. My mom & "A" had decorated the WHOLE cabin with birthday decorations! SO sweet!
At first "A" said there was nothing to do .But after the ship was afloat she found PLENTY to do! She found out there was a Flow Rider on the ship among other things.So she wanted to go exploring. So (paranoid aunt that I am) I went with her We went ALL over the place .(Ahh to be 12 again!) There was a program for 12-17 year olds. She took part in that once the ship started.
You can either laugh at this or say "I don't blame you." My brother was several floors above us w/my s.i.l & 5 year old niece. Now curfew for the 12-17 year old program.is 1AM Normally I waited up for "A" anyway. But I figured my brother had "A" & things were all right. So I fell asleep. I wake up , it's 1:40 & "A" isn't there! I curse ,get my clothes back on ,and head out the door! (Meanwhile I had left my key back in the room!OOPS!) Thank GOODNESS my brother & "A" are coming down the hall("A" has a key) My brother says "Where were you going?" As it turns out the movie "A" was watching ran into overtime .I wouldn't have been able to have checked on "A" anyway since I'm not her parent. ("A" had sort of a pager type thing & my brother met her at an agreed place. ) I tried telling my brother that "A" is a mature young lady that doesn't need to be escorted back to her room . But my argument didn't fly.
I REALLY did have fun with her! (5 year old niece talked more to Mom's bf..but that's another story.)
