I love my sister and her husband, but I think my parenting style will end up very different from theirs.
I think this is a sensitive topic for a lot of women, because I don't want to bash my family's child-rearing skills (after all, I seemed to turn out okay) but I also think that my own experience raising children will be very different from my mother's or my sister's. If I have kids, I'll be older than either of them were when they had them. I'm the breadwinner in our household, which neither of them were. And, my fiance and I have a different lifestyle, we live smaller but in a city environment. We thrive on spontaneity, as well as routine, and we do a lot more coloring outside the lines.
