I think for me the prize goes to my [ex]gynecologist. After a long discussion about not being able to afford kids for at least five years following our wedding, my husband and I looked into my getting an IUD. Eventually we decided against it for financial reasons (not covered by insurance, imagine that!). My gyne, looking at my file, says Well it's probably better that way, because you might want to start a family in the next few years. UM - #1, I already started a family, I married my husband. #2, I think part of being a responsible parent is knowing when NOT to have kids, and we know we can't for at least five years.
I felt like I was in the pilot episode of Mad Men, except that instead of telling me I shouldn't become the town harlot, she was telling me that I should hurry up and get pregnant because it's really what I want anyway.
