I know one mother who saved a favorite piece of clothing from her children, when they had outgrown them, cut squares from them, and made a quilt so when her kids moved out of the house, they left with this memory childhood quilt. Maybe his mom could send you the clothing ... Another idea is stamps. Your nephew could get the first printed stamps before they were sold. You buy and then they're preserved for your nephew. I learned it in a workshop. The US postal service has like a catalog of the stamps that will be coming out,but not released yet- look up process, though, because not sure of all the details, but that was the gist of it. You can also make stamps with his picture on them. Something pricey could also be shoes, some kids collect basketball shoes that are signature for certain basketball players...good luck!
