A new book for nieces/nephews, by a Savvy Auntie!
Hello there, Savvy Aunties!
I'm posting this thread in hopes that our savvy community will support my creative endeavor and get something fun out of it to share with your beloved little ones.
I recently published my first children's book - written and illustrated by yours truly - and it is now available on Blurb.com! It's called, "Yummy Haiku: Fruits and Veggies, ABC's and Zen - by Auntie Weezy" and it's only $8.99 +shipping.
The book is 36 pages. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a full color illustration of a fruit or vegetable and accompanied by a short poem (haiku), tailored to children (lots of fun words like kerplunk! and child-themed ideas, like peek-a-boo).
The last two pages are dedicated to a "Did You Know?" section, where I've compiled cool facts about each fruit/veggie. For example: did you know that lemon juice can be used as invisible ink? Just write with it, let it dry, then heat it to reveal the message!
This book is a great gift for kids under the age of five, who need a parent to read and participate with them. It's also great for older siblings, who might be learning to read and could share their budding talent with their younger sisters/brothers.
Parents will find a certain joy in this book, too. Many of the haikus have a deeper or alternative meaning to what is presented and understood by the little ones. I call this the SpongeBob effect: kids will giggle at the peek-a-boos and silly words, while parents will enjoy a private snicker at some of the wordplay that kids will eventually understand as they grow and learn about language and the world around them.
I hope you'll head to Blurb.com for a free preview of Yummy Haiku (just enter the title in their search bar). Along with the front cover, dedication, and a couple fully illustrated pages, you'll be able to see one of my favorite parts of the book: the back cover, where I've turned my young niece, Willo into a sketch!
Thank you for taking the time to read my pitch. I hope all you Savvy Aunties out there enjoy what I've made to share with all our beloved little ones :)
Warmest Regards,
Auntie Weezy
