Thanks for the quick response!
These nieces are 10 and 5 years old, and another cousin has 5 year old and 12 year old boys. They all have birthdays in the same month, so they always celebrate together.
I usually visit my family once a year and it usually has been around the time of their birthdays so of course I brought gifts. This year I’m coming after their birthdays, and I already sent them gifts for their birthdays.
When I don’t come on their birthdays I usually bring small things under $10, but that rarely happens. I think it happened only once. My cousin hinted to me what they would love to have. And what they would love to have will cost me around $300. I already spent that amount a month ago on their birthdays. Why should I spend it again? So now I don’t know what to do. Another problem is that if I bring something for them, then I have to bring something to the nephews or I will be a bad auntie that only loves my nieces. So that will be around the $600 already. With this economic situation the way it is, I can’t afford that. I don’t know how to get out of it without offending my cousin. I don’t want her to be angry at me, and I don’t want to disappoint the kids. If she did tell them I’m bringing these gifts and I won’t they will think I’m a bad auntie. What can I do?
