Dear Savvy Auntie,
I have been taking care of my niece and nephew since they were born. They are now ages two and five. My brother-in-law won't trust me, or my sister - their other aunt - to take the kids out past the local ice cream stand or the park. Both are two-minute walks. When we wanted to take them to the zoo, he almost flipped out and refused to let us take them.
He's been overprotective since they were born, but our sister, their mom, knows we can take care of them. They're good kids and we can handle them.
My question is, how do you deal with a brother- or sister-in-law who won't trust you enough to take the kids out?
