Fashion Tips and Tricks to Pass on to YOUR Niece or Nephew!
As an aunt, godmother, or older sister, it’s your job to pass on fashion and style advice to the special little girl or boys in your life. They don’t need a huge bank account or a credit card in order to look, and more importantly, feel amazing. When it comes to shopping for clothes, it’s all about knowing where to look and what to look for.
Share these tips with your nieces and nephews!
1. Sometimes the best place to start is in your own closet! It’s amazing how much stuff has been pushed to the back of your closet or at the bottom of the drawer. Take a look at all of the cool stuff you already have in your wardrobe. Find stuff that doesn’t fit anymore? Consider donating it to charity – it will make you feel good AND free up room in your closet!
2. Trade with Friends! Some of your old clothes may no longer be right for you, but would look great on one of your friends. Get your gal pals together for a swap session where everyone brings thing they don’t wear anymore (check your “trade picks” with your parents first).
3. Shop in your Aunt’s, Mom’s, or Older Siblings’ closet! Raiding your aunt’s closet – with permission, of course – is the perfect way to sass up your look. There might be and old sweater or a big t-shirt that’s back in fashion and that you can wear as a dress. Keep your eyes peeled for other items that you can transform, like a scarf that would look cool as a belt! And for the nephews - check out your uncle's wardrobe. You may find some 'vintage' concert tees and jeans!
4. Go Vintage! Check out your local consignment shop or Salvation Army store – both are filled with treasures galore. The best part about finding a cool top or a funky belt at a thrift shop is that you’ll never see anyone else in school wearing the same one!
