Aunties’ Key to Living a Glamorous Life
Could you be any more fabulous, Auntie? I really doubt it. From what I know about you from Melanie Notkin, Founder, Savvy Auntie, you are on point with your career; you are always put-together; and you are out seeing and being seen. On top of all of that, you are a Savvy Auntie to some amazing little nuggets of love.
All I want for you is to be fabulous and to live your amazing glamorous life without your body and your fertility taking a hit. You can do it all and have it all; but you must learn how to partner with your body.
I see some women burn the candle at both ends – they eat a diet that does not help their hormones stay balanced; they overdo commitments; they work hard and play hard; and there’s little time to squeeze in the self-care needed to maintain hormonal health.
There are two things I want you to consider:
1. Your Adrenals
In the glamorous life, the chances are good that you are placing strain on these amazing glands. Stressing them out for prolonged periods of time is no good, as they play a major role in your overall endocrine function; and women with adrenal fatigue struggle with menstrual cycle health and fertility more than others.
2. The Quality of Your Period
Now of course, I totally get that you may be on the pill and not even thinking about your hormones; but if you’re thinking about babies in the future, then you need to consider the status of your hormonal health sooner rather than later. Here’s the deal, current scientific research has definitively shown that hormonal imbalances left untreated for years (i.e., period problems of any sort) increase a woman’s chance of developing the big four diseases of inflammation – diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. And we know from fertility research, a body that is inflamed in general has a decreased capacity for healthy conception.
You should consider trying…
First and foremost, start taking an adrenal supplement – I like Jarrow Adrenal Optimizer as a good form of general support.
If you identify that you are adrenally-fatigued (e.g., exhaustion, mood swings, lack of endurance during workouts, lower libido, lack of mental focus, and insomnia), then reach out for some support and a more targeted protocol.
Take stock of what your period is really like…
Are you suffering with symptoms of PMS, fibroids, ovulation pain, acne, bloating, depression, PCOS, cramps, clotting, irregular bleeding, and telling yourself it’s normal to have every month be miserable? This definitely doesn’t fit in with being fabulous; but more importantly, the sooner you take the time to address these issues well in advance of joining aunthood with motherhood, the less stressful and potentially medicalized your conception journey will be.
