I mostly knit and quilt... my favourite knitting site is ravelry.com -- there are all sorts of free patterns there. Also yarnharlot.com for a funny knitting blog. For quilting... unfortunately I can waste a lot of time looking at quilting websites but I don't think there's one in particular that I visit more than others.

My nephew asked me to teach him how to knit! I'm super excited. he is not quite six years old though -- I'm afraid if he starts too young then he'll get frustrated and stop. Any thoughts?

I crochet and actually have shops on 1000markets and etsy. But I also crochet for my nieces and nephews! They all have at least one of my creations and love them. It's so fun to give them something you make and see them enjoy it.

I say "a niece is a person to knit for" and 2yo Ari loves the pink cardigans i sent her. She wears them together, the kid has her own look already. I promised my nephew I wouldn't make him anything he didn't ask for, I hated being made to wear sweaters i didn't like as a kid. He promptly said "I'd like a stripey jumper with triangles on it please" He got it and it's now his favourite. I knew a preschool teacher who had a lot of success with teaching 4 year olds to knit, so go for it auntiedesi.

I have to admit that Ravelry.com is a great place for knit and crochet patterns. The Bernat yarn pattern site also has great free knit or crochet sock monkeys that I love doing.
