Front Lawn Fun

As spring approaches, you may want to spend more time outside with your nieces and nephews. Here’s the tricky part; if you or your nieces or nephews are not into sports, or the closest park isn’t close at all, you may want things to do without having to leave the front lawn or backyard. Look no further than the classic games from your childhood. The following springtime outdoor activities never go out of style.
1. Hopscotch
All you need for this game is some pavement and street chalk. It gives children the chance to be creative with drawing and different colored chalks, not to mention the exercise of literally hopping up and down the hopscotch board.
2. Jump rope
Jump is not just an activity; it’s a real workout! If you’re just looking for a fun, single player activity, single jump ropes are perfect. But if the kids are up for the challenge, try different types of jump rope games like double dutch!
3. Frisbee
Frisbee gets those muscles moving. From when kids throw the Frisbee, to running to catch it, it makes a great game for two, or even a bunch of nieces and nephews – and uncles, too!
4. Hula hoop
Hula hooping can be a challenge, and once kids get it, it’s hard to get them to stop! Grab some colorful hula-hoops and have yourselves a little competition to see who can last the longest. Once they are really good, see who can hold it up on their hips the longest, or who can do some moves on their arms, necks, or legs!
5. Pogo sticks
While jumping on pogo sticks may be a little advanced for younger kids, the older ones will have fun, all while working out. It will get those leg muscles working and stretching.
